Elon Musk predicts that universal basic income (UBI) will be essential in the future. However, while the need for such income is one issue, figuring out who will provide it is another. With the rapid advancement of AI and robotics, the wealthy will increasingly opt to replace human workers with robots, further widening the economic gap between rich and poor. In response, the less fortunate will be forced to turn to farming and animal husbandry as a means of survival—since, ultimately, food is the most basic resource necessary for life.
