Let me blow my own trumpet for a while before going on to the real blog.
In my 51 years of existence, I don’t think I have ever lost an argument about astrology, philosophy, religion or spirituality with anyone. Face to face, I have debated many learned men, including European scientists, and have made them go around in circles without being able to think of a new question.
But honestly, when you debate and win, there is no good feeling about it. What is the joy in seeing someone defeated? At least, I don’t find any. And it is also pathetic to watch men lose arguments in front of their wives, children or close ones who look up to them as heroes.
These experiences, of course, taught me an important lesson: leaving humanity to grope in the darkness is any day better than trying to tell them the truth.
‘How to Become Rich in 365 Days’ — a book with that title will any day sell more copies than one titled ‘Motherfuckers, Not Everyone Can Create Wealth.’
One thing I should shamelessly admit is that it is almost impossible to win an argument even with a retard online. And the three foremost reasons are deviation from the main topic, verbal abuse and suddenly vanishing into oblivion.
Of course, in my paid argument sessions, I win because they have paid for my time.
So today, I had a heavy lunch, had nothing else to do and was just passing time with someone who called me a fake on Threads.
Stranger: Like astrology, fake fantasy.
Me: Like astrology, fake fantasy meaning? Astrology is fake?
Stranger: Are you slow? Of course, not only fake, it is fraud. Don’t you know the difference between astronomy and astrology?
Me: What about astrologers? They are fake?
Stranger: Because you don’t know anything about astronomy, you ask such questions. If it’s your trade, duping people for a living, go on. But take care.
Me: Lol.
Stranger: Yes, astrology LOL.
Me: I am asking you something else, and you are saying something else. So astrology is fake according to you? So astrologers are also fake, right?
Stranger: Astrologer who practices astrology is a fraud.
Me: If that is true, the government should not give Padma Bhushan to frauds, right? Or should they felicitate astrologers/frauds?
Stranger: Yes. Actually, they should not. But frauds will celebrate fraudsters.
Me: Oh, so the government is also fraudulent now? The government felicitates scientists too. So frauds felicitate scientists? So according to you, only scientists are not frauds. Correct?
Stranger: So far no fraudulent astrologer was felicitated by the government. Eminent Vedic scholar Pandit Ganeshwar Shastri Dravid was awarded the Padma Shri in 2025. BJP is a government of illiterate, superstitious people.
Me: Lol. No fraudulent astrologer?
Stranger: LOL.
Me: So there are frauds and no frauds? Make up your mind. Is astrology fake, are astrologers fake, or are there both fake and good astrologers? Choose one.
Stranger: Actually, BJP thrives where there are superstitions. Literate, intelligent people don’t support BJP. Masses are superstitious. Fraud doesn’t become true when a fool’s government felicitates. Cheating cannot become teaching.
Me: Oh God! You are giving me a lecture without answering a basic question. Fake or not fake?
Stranger: Astrology is fake, so all astrologers are practising fake. Knowingly, most of them.
Me: Good. Thanks. So according to you, all astrologers are fake. Good. So according to you, I am a fake too, right?
You have all the rights to have your opinion and call me a fake. But stick to the topic of conversation instead of giving me a lecture about BJP.
Stranger: Thanks to you. Please don’t be angry. Try to study astronomy, very interesting truth about the universe. Study science and don’t dupe the public for a living.
Me: I am a BSc in Chemistry. I never get angry when people call me fake. Thousands have called me fake, and you are just one among them.
So if I am a fake according to you, why did you even bother to message me? Just ignore me and move ahead in life.
And the stranger went for a stroll.
I am honestly amazed at the shallowness of the present generation. Maybe they indeed belong to an era where having an opinion is considered equivalent to having an argument, and abusing someone is considered equivalent to winning one.
I have always maintained that an intelligent conversation need not necessarily end with one person agreeing with the other. But at the very least, both should have the intellectual honesty to stay on the subject and answer the questions being asked.
Unfortunately, that seems to be becoming a rare commodity.
